înțelept

Romanian

Etymology

From Late Latin intellēctus, from Latin intellegō. Was originally also the past participle of înțelege, replaced by înțeles through analogy with other -e ending third-conjugation verbs (i.e. merge > mers, drege > dres, scrie > scris).
