Etymology edit

From Proto-Norse *ᚢᚾᚦᚨᚱᛒᚢ (*unþarbu), attested in the late genitive plural ᚢᚦᛡᚱᛡᛒᛡ (uþᴀrᴀbᴀ /⁠ūþarᵃβa⁠/). Equivalent to ó- (un-) +‎ þǫrf (neccessity), and often difficult to tell apart from adjective óþarfr (harmful).
