From Old Norse auga, from Proto-Germanic *augô, cognate with Swedish öga, English eye, German Auge. The Germanic noun ultimately goes back to Proto-Indo-European *h₃ekʷ- (“eye; to see”), cf. Latin oculus (“eye”).
