a ști (third-person singular present știe, past participle știut) 4th conj.

  1. (transitive) to know
    Synonym: cunoaște

Usage notes edit

Informally ști can stand for any instance of English to know. In standard usage however, cunoaște is used when the object is a person, or, even more formally, whenever there is a direct object (as opposed to an dependent clause).
