From the accusative ἐφημερῐ́δᾰ (ephēmerída) of Koine Greek ἐφημερῐ́ς, ἐφημερῐ́δος (ephēmerís, ephēmerídos, “diary, journal”) from Ancient Greek ἐφήμερος (ephḗmeros, “daily”), from ἐπ(ί) (ep(í), “upon”, “on”) + ἡμέρᾱ (hēmérā, “day”).
