Ancient Greek edit

Etymology edit

From Proto-Hellenic *tʰə́pťō, perhaps from a Proto-Indo-European *dʰm̥bʰyéti, from *dʰembʰ-, with cognates including Old Armenian դամբան (damban, tomb) and possibly Avestan daxma-, Middle Persian ﺹﺪﻍﺶﻰﺍ (dhmk'), or from Proto-Indo-European *dʰₔgʷʰtós. Could also be a loanword.

The present tense system includes a T progressive aspect marker.
