See Σκλάβος (Sklábos), probably from earlier Σλαβῆνος (Slabēnos), from plural Σλαβῆνοι (Slabēnoi), from Proto-Slavic *slověne (plural; the singular form Proto-Slavic *slověninŭ is derived from it). Cf. also Latin sclavus.
