Etymology edit

From Common Kypchak *ačïq "open; clear; bright" (compare Old Uyghur [script needed] (ačuq, open; clear, evident),[1] from Proto-Turkic *ač- (to open).

Cognate with Kazakh ашық (aşyq), Kyrgyz ачык (acık), Kumyk ачыкъ (açıq), Uyghur ئوچۇق (ochuq, open), Turkish açık (open).
