Etymology edit

Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic вънѩти (vŭnjęti), from Proto-Slavic *vъnęti, from *vъ(n)- (see *vъ(n)) + *ęti. Reanalyzed as (and synchronically analyzable as) в- (v-) +‎ -нять (-njatʹ), from which other words in -нять (-njatʹ) were created, such as наня́ть (nanjátʹ), обня́ть (obnjátʹ).
