Learned borrowing from Old Czech kuropěnie, from Proto-Slavic *kuropěnьje. cognate with Czech kuropění, Slovene kuropénje. Equivalent to кур (kur) +‎ -о- (-o-) +‎ пі́(я)ти (pí(ja)ty) +‎ -ня (-nja)
