Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish لوقوم (lokum), from a vulgar form of Ottoman Turkish راحت الحلقوم (râhatü'l-hulkûm), from Arabic رَاحَة الْحُلْقُوم (rāḥat al-ḥulqūm).
