Related words include навет (navet), извет (izvet), ответ (otvet), привет (privet), совет (sovet), вече (veče), отвечать (otvečatʹ), ответить (otvetitʹ), завещать (zaveščatʹ), and совещаться (soveščatʹsja). Probably cognate with Polish witać (to welcome).
