From Proto-Turkic *čiāk (time; precisely, exactly) — see Kazakh шақ (şaq, time), Kyrgyz чак (cak), for more cognates — making this word a false cognate with Russian час (čas, time, hour), itself the source of Yakut чаас (caas, hour).
