From Proto-Turkic *takïr (“level, smooth; bald, devoid of vegetation”).
Cognate with Kazakh тақыр (taqyr), Tatar, Kyrgyz, Southern Altai такыр (takır), Uzbek taqir, Khakas тахыр (taxır, “bald; devoid of vegetation”), etc.
