Borrowed from Turkish tuğla, either from Greek τούβλο (toúvlo), from Latin tubulus, diminutive of tubus (“tube, pipe”); or from Greek τούγλα (toúgla, “roof cover made of terracotta, tile”), from Latin tēgula (“tile”), related to Latin tegō (“to cover”).
