From Proto-Turkic *kïčgïr- (to shout, cry).[1]

Cognate with Crimean Tatar qıçırmaq, Uzbek qichqirmoq (to shout), Azerbaijani qışqırmaq (to scream).

ҡысҡырыу (qısqırıw) (ambitransitive)

  1. to shout, cry, yell
  2. (animals) to make the cry typical of the respective species; bray, crow, caw, cuckoo, etc.
    Ҡоҙғон ҡайһы тирәлә ҡысҡырһа, шунда мәйет була.
    Qoźğon qayhı tirələ qısqırha, şunda məyet bula.
    Where a raven caws, there will be a dead man.
