Etymology edit

From Proto-Turkic *sat- (to sell).[1]

Cognate with Kazakh сату (satu, to sell), Kyrgyz сатуу (satuu, to sell), Khakas садарға (sadarğa, to sell), Turkish satmak (to sell), Tuvan садар (sadar, to sell), Uzbek sotmoq (to sell), Yakut атыы (atıı, commerce, trade).

    Ul bik qimmətle matur ınyı tapqas, qaytıp bar mölkəten hatqan da, şul ınyını alğan.
    When he found a very valuable, beautiful pearl, (he) went home, sold all his belongings and bought that pearl.
