գեղգեղեմ

Old ArmenianEdit

EtymologyEdit

From *գեղ- (*geł-, to sing-); compare գեղօն (gełōn). Perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *gʰel- (to call, cry) and cognate with Proto-Germanic *galaną. Less likely a Hittite borrowing: compare Hittite [script?] (galgal-ināi-, to make a musical sound).

VerbEdit

գեղգեղեմ (gełgełem)  (aorist indicative գեղգեղեցի)

  1. to sing beautifully, to quiver, to vibrate
