Etymology edit
Adapted by the Hellenizing School from ընդ (ənd) + -ա- (-a-).[1] The spelling ընթա- (əntʿa-) reflects an intermediate form.[1]

Used post-classically to calque Ancient Greek words prefixed with ὑπο- (hupo-), e.g. ենթադրեմ (entʿadrem) = ὑποτίθημι (hupotíthēmi), ենթածեմ (entʿacem) = ὑπάγω (hupágō), ենթամնամ (entʿamnam) = ὑπομένω (hupoménō), ենթալուսնեայ (entʿalusneay) = ὑποσελήνιος (huposelḗnios), ենթակայ (entʿakay) = ὑπόστασις (hupóstasis).[1]
