From German Pirol. Probably coined by the Mekhitarists of Vienna.

      Uriš mēk tesakn ē deġin Pirolə (Oriolus galbula). zōrawor jaynov yaġtʻandam ergecʻik tʻṙčʻun mən ē.
      Another species is the yellow oriole (Oriolus galbula). It is a singing bird with a powerful voice.

Usage notes edit

Even though Oriolus oriolus can be encountered in Armenia,[2][3] no vernacular name has been recorded.
