וַתִּקְרָא (vatikrá)

  1. Third-person feminine singular vav-consecutive imperfect (hence past tense) of קָרָא (kará).
    • Tanach, Exodus 2:8, with translation of the King James Version:
      וַתֵּלֶךְ הָעַלְמָה וַתִּקְרָא אֶת אֵם הַיָּלֶד
      vatélech haalmá vatikrá et em hayáled
      And the maid went and called the child's mother.
    • Tanach, Exodus 2:10, with translation of the King James Version:
      וַיְהִי לָהּ לְבֵן וַתִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ מֹשֶׁה
      vay'hí lah l'ven vatikrá sh'mo moshé
      and he became her son. And she called his name Moses
