Etymology edit
Western Middle Iranian *āp-šēnag, ultimately from Proto-Iranian *āp- + *xšaina- + *-ka-. For the first component, compare Old Persian [Term?] (/āpi/, “water”). For the second component, compare Old Persian [Term?] (/axšaina-/, “dark blue”), Old Persian *xšaina- (“shiny”)
Literally meaning "where the water shines". The place is located on the foot of the northern valleys of Alvand mountains.
