أَقْلَف (ʔaqlaf) (feminine قَلْفَاء (qalfāʔ), common plural قُلْف (qulf))

  1. uncircumcised
    • (Can we date this quote?), ʾAbū al-Faraj al-ʾAṣbahānī, الأَغَانِي [al-ʔaḡānī, The Book of Songs]:
Kaʿb al-ʾAšqarī once said about Ziyād the Persian,
"Uncircumcised, yet prays after lying with his mother! He thinks it lawful in the code of Zoroaster!"
Thereupon, Ziyād said to him, "You son of a tattler! Was it she who passed on to you that I am uncircumcised?" And thus, Ziyād beat him.
