Etymology edit

Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀅𑀁𑀟 (aṃḍa), from Sanskrit अण्ड (aṇḍá), आण्ड (āṇḍá), or अण्डक (aṇḍaka). Compare Punjabi آنڈا (ānḍā) / ਆਂਡਾ (āṇḍā), Sindhi آنو / आनो, Nepali अण्डा (aṇḍā), Gujarati ઈંડું (ī̃ḍũ), Marathi अंडे (aṇḍe), Konkani अंडें (aṇḍẽ), Bengali আণ্ডা (anḍa), এণ্ডা (enḍa).
