Adapted from Sanskrit वाचयति (vācayati, causes to speak). Compare Konkani वाजुचे (vājuce), वाच्चे (vācce), Gujarati વાંચવું (vā̃cvũ), Marathi वाचणे (vācṇe), Punjabi ਵਾਚਣਾ (vācṇā) / واچݨا (vācṇā).
