From Classical Persian جلوه (jilwa, jalwa), from Arabic جَلْوَة (jalwa).

جلوہ (jalva, jilva, julvam (Hindi spelling जलवा)

  1. splendor, luster, glory, effulgence
  2. (rare) the meeting of the bride and bridegroom (in the presence of their relations)
  3. (religious) the ceremony (among Muslims) when the bridegroom reads a chapter of the Qur'ān, and for the first time sees his wife's face in a mirror
