  1. to beat, to whip
    خَفَقَ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِنَعْلِهِ
    ḵafaqa l-ʔarḍa binaʕlihi
    He struck the ground with his sandal.
    خَفَقَتِ ٱلْبَيْضَ
    ḵafaqati l-bayḍa
    She beat the eggs.
  2. to flap the wings
    خَفَقَ ٱلطَّائِرُ
    ḵafaqa ṭ-ṭāʔiru
    The bird flapped its wings.
  3. to palpitate
    يَخْفُقُ قَلْبِي
    yaḵfuqu qalbī
    My heart palpitates.
