Inherited from Paisaci Prakrit [Term?] (compare Sauraseni Prakrit), from Sanskrit ऋक्ष (ŕkṣa), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hŕ̥ćšas, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂ŕ̥tḱos (bear). Cognate to Hindi रीछ (rīch), Gujarati રીંછ (rī̃ch), Romani rish.
