Karakhanid

Etymology

Inherited from Common Turkic *kob- (“to pursue”). Cognate with Turkish kovmak, Uzbek quvmoq and Bashkir ҡыуыу (qıwıw).

Verb

كُڤْماقْ (qovmāq) (third-person singular aorist كُڤارْ (qovār))

1. (transitive) to pursue, follow, chase

   اِتْ كَيِكْنٖى كُڤْدٖى ― Ït keyiknī qovdï̄. ― The dog chased the wild game.
