From Middle Persian [Term?], probably from Old Persian *Niθāvanta-, related to Old Persian [script needed] (n-i-s-a-y /Nisāya-/), from the prefix [Term?] (/ni-/, “down”). For the second component, compare Avestan [Term?] (/√say/), [Term?] (/√si/, “lie down”).
