Etymology edit

From Proto-Iranian *ni- + *wač- (to say, speak). The prefix is from Proto-Iranian *ní (down), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ní (down, into), while the second component is from Proto-Indo-European *wekʷ- (to speak, sound out).[1]
