1. (intransitive, transitive) to guard, watch over, supervise

   ܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ ܢܵܛܹܪ ܠܘܼܟ݂ ― allāhā nāṭēr lūḵ ― May God guard you

   ܙܹܠ݇، ܐܵܢܵܐ ܒܸܬ ܢܵܛܪܹܢ ܨܸܡܕܘܼܟ݂. ― zē, ānā bit nāṭrēn ṣimdūḵ. ― Go, I’ll watch your bag.

2. (intransitive, transitive) to await, wait for

   ܢܹܐ ܠܸܢܛܵܪܵܐ ܠܲܐܟ݂ܵܐ ― nē linṭārā laˀḵā ― Please wait here.

   ܒܸܢܛܵܪܵܐ ܝܘܲܢ ܝܬܝܼܒ݂ܬܵܐ ܩܵܕ݇ܡ ܬܲܪܥܵܐ ܕܕܵܥܪܹܬ ― binṭārā wan tīḇtā qām tarˁā ddāˁrēt ― I am awaiting sitting in front of the door for you to return.
