A foreign Wanderwort, likely borrowed from a western substrate. The same Wanderwort may be reflected in Hebrew קוֹף (qōf), Akkadian uqūpu, Egyptian gfj, Middle Persian [script needed] (kpyk' /⁠kabīg⁠/), Ancient Greek κῆπος (kêpos, long-tailed monkey), and Proto-Germanic *apô (ape, monkey).
