Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀘𑀤𑀼𑀓𑁆𑀓 (cadukka), from Sanskrit चतुष्क (catuṣka). Cognate with Punjabi ਚੌਕ (cauk), Nepali चोक (cok), Gujarati ચોક (cok), Odia ଚଉକ (côukô).
