Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀲𑀇𑀚𑁆𑀛 (saïjjha), from Sanskrit *सगृह्य (sagṛhya). Related to शेजार (śej̈ār). Cognate with Konkani शेजारि (śezāri).
