Etymology edit

Borrowed from Classical Persian شُرُوع (šurū'), from Arabic شُرُوع (šurūʕ). Related to सुरवात (survāt), सुरुवात (suruvāt). Compare Gujarati શરૂ (śarū), Kannada ಶುರು (śuru), Hindustani شُرُوع (śurū') / शुरू (śurū), Punjabi ਸ਼ੁਰੂ (śurū) / شُرُوع (śurūʻ), Bengali শুরু (śuru).
