Borrowed from Sanskrit উপনীত (upanīta). By surface analysis, উপ (up) +‎ নীত (nito). Compare Assamese উপনীত (uponit), Odia ଉପନୀତ (upônitô), Hindustani سسوادو / उपनीत (upnīt).
