Etymology edit

Inherited from Middle Bengali বিহনে (bihane), from Old Bengali বিহুনে (bihune), বিহণি (bihani, in absence of), derived from a locative form of Magadhi Prakrit 𑀯𑀺𑀳𑀽𑀡 (vihūṇa), 𑀯𑀺𑀳𑀻𑀡 (vihīṇa), from Sanskrit বিহীন (vihīna, left, forlorn). Cognate to Punjabi ਵਿਹੂਣਾ (vihūṇā), Gujarati વિહોણું (vihoṇũ).
