Inherited from Paisaci Prakrit [Term?] (compare Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀘𑀸𑀳𑀤𑀺 (cāhadi)), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ćāhati. Cognate to Hindi चाहना (cāhnā).
