Etymology edit
Inherited from Old Gujarati रहइ (rahaï), from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀭𑀳𑀤𑀺 (rahadi), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ráźʰati (“to remain, stay”), but of uncertain ultimate origin. See Sanskrit रहस् (rahas) for details. Cognate with Marathi राहणे (rāhṇe), Hindi रहना (rahnā), Nepali रहनु (rahanu), Assamese ৰোৱা (rüa).
