Etymology edit

Inherited from Old Burmese ခိုဝ်း (khuiw), from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *r-kəw ~ hu (to steal). Cognate with Nuosu (ku), (kux njie, to steal), Lolopo ker (to steal), Naxi kv (to steal), Jingpho lägu (to steal), Drung keu (to steal), Yakkha खुमा (khuma, to steal), Tibetan རྐུ (rku, to steal).
