ၜဴ (ḅau, “sugarcane”) + လုပ် (lup, “to go in, to enter”) + ပါၚ် (pāṅ, “mouth”) + စိၚ် (ciṅ, “elephant”), whose literal meaning is “the sugarcane went into the elephant's mouth”; cf. Thai อ้อยเข้าปากช้าง, whose construction is similar to that of Mon.[1]
