  • Hyphenation: მი‧დის

Verb edit

მიდის (midis) (third-person singular present indicative)

  1. (intransitive, with preverb მი- (mi-)) to go
    უკვე მივიდა იქ და დაბრუნდა
    uḳve mivida ik da dabrunda
He already went there and came back
  2. (intransitive, with preverbs წა- (c̣a-)) to leave for; to go
    სახლში მიდის
    saxlši midis
    He is going home
    რა ქნა, წავიდა სახლში?
    ra kna, c̣avida saxlši?
What did he do, did he leave for home?

Usage notes edit

The 1st sense is used with preverb მი- in every screeve. As for the 2nd sense, it uses მი- in the first three screeves, then წა-. Meaning-wise, the difference is subtle, 1st sense means just to go (somewhere) and is more direct, while the 2nd sense means to leave (for some place).
