Etymology 1 edit

Possibly from Middle Georgian სკა (sḳa). Akin to Mingrelian სკა (sḳa), Laz მცქა (mʒka). Further etymology is unknown. Sense of bee in dialects possibly developed from Mingrelian.

According to Androniḳašvili, from Old Armenian սկահ (skah, bowl).[1][2][3]
