Etymology edit
From later Middle Georgian ხაჭაპური (xač̣aṗuri). From ხაჭო (xač̣o, “curds”) + პური (ṗuri, “bread”). Folk etymology derives the term from the name of a Georgian baker called *ხაჭა (*xač̣a) who first made this dish.
