Etymology edit

From Proto-Mon-Khmer *bn₂uum ~ *bn₂əm (hill). Cognate with Semelai bnʉm and Koho bönöm (mountain) and Santali ᱵᱩᱱᱩᱢ (bunum, termite hill, white ant hill). Possibly related to Vietnamese nấm (mound).
