Etymology edit
From Thai มโหรี (má-hǒo-rii), possibly from Sanskrit मनोहर (manohara, “fascinating, attractive, charming, beautiful”) + -ई (-ī, “feminine suffix”).[1]
Although Khmer orchestra has existed since the 12th century (or older), the word was not found in inscriptions until a few centuries ago.
