  1. (active voice) to set in motion, urge on, inspire
  2. (active voice, middle voice, passive voice) to start [+infinitive]
  3. to rush, hasten [+genitive = at, against] or [+ἐπί (epí) + accusative = against] or [+εἰς (eis) + accusative = against]
