Ancient Greek edit

Etymology edit

No etymology. The word may contain the suffix "-θλο-", as in ἄεθλος (áethlos), but there is no good explanation for initial "ὑ-".

Pronunciation edit

Noun edit

ὕθλος (húthlosm (genitive ὕθλου); second declension

  1. idle talk, nonsense, prank
    Synonyms: φλήνᾰφος (phlḗnaphos), φλῠ́ᾱρος (phlúāros)
