あぐり
Japanese
Etymology
After previous births of female children, a name given to a female child in the hope that she will be the last female child and next will be a male child. Later, by extension, a name given to either male or female children to express that he or she will be the last child. Etymology is unknown, but dialectal forms equivalent to afuru (“overflow”) and amari (“surplus”) have been proposed.
